PARISH COUNCIL MEETINGS DURING COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS 

During the ongoing Covid-19 crisis Parish Councils had been permitted to make decisions in a video-conferencing format because social distancing guidelines at this time prevent meetings taking place in the normal format.  This permission ended on 7th May 2021.  Meetings will resume once Covid-19 Restrictions permit.

NOTICE OF VACANCY FOR A PARISH COUNCILLOR

Notice is hereby given that due to a resignation one vacancy exists in the office of Parish Councillor for Adlington Parish Council.

An election to fill the vacancy will be held if ten electors for the said Electoral area give notice to the Returning Officer requesting such an election within 14 days (excluding Saturdays Sundays, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Good Friday or a Bank Holiday) of the date of this Notice. 

If no such notice is given the Parish Council will fill the vacancy by co-option.

Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and sent to the Returning Officer.

Regulation 6 of The Local Government and Police and Crime Commissioner (Coronavirus) (Postponement of Elections and Referendums) (England and Wales) Regulations 2020 currently defers an election (if called) until Thursday, 6th May 2021. It should be noted however, that the Government has indicated that the situation will be kept under review and, if safe to do so, further legislation will be laid that will permit an election sooner than this date.

NOTICE OF CASUAL VACANCY

CO-OPTION

Notice is hereby given that there is currently one casual vacancy on Adlington Parish Council.

With no election being called within the Requisite Period the Council can now fill the Casual Vacancy by co-option.

Anyone interested in being co-opted to the Parish Council should in the first instance contact the Clerk (details at the foot of this notice) by no later than Friday 14th June 2021.

Note: Any person willing to fill a vacancy should apply to the Clerk in writing on or before Friday 14th June 2021.  The Applicant’s name must appear on the current Register of Voters List or the applicant should during the whole of the twelve months preceding the relevant date have resided in or within three miles of the Parish or the applicant’s only place of work during the whole of the twelve months preceding the relevant date is in the Parish.  The applicant must not be debarred from standing as a Councillor.

ALLOTMENTS IN ADLINGTON

Adlington Parish Council now manages allotments in Adlington.

The site is currently full but we are operating a waiting list for those interested in taking on an allotment in Adlington.  Plots will be allocated according to the date applicants joined the waiting list but priority will be given to applicants living in the Adlington Parish area.

If you would like to be added to the waiting list please download our application form and once completed return it to the Clerk.
